VAS Inventory Platform — Before & After
I rebuilt VAS's internal inventory tool from a Python/NiceGUI prototype sitting on a Postgres buffer into a Go REST API with a React frontend, synced in real time from the Fishbowl ERP. Screenshots below are from the real, running apps; underneath them is an interactive mock of the warehouse item-lookup screen from both versions on dummy data, so you can search each one yourself and feel the difference.
Real screenshots
Names and figures in the current screenshots are stand-ins — vendors, customers and coworker accounts swapped for invented ones, money rescaled by a single factor so the margins still add up. A few scanned documents in the older shots are pixelated. Layouts, record volumes and workflows are otherwise unedited.
Try it yourself
A live, interactive mock of the item-lookup screen from each version, running on the same made-up dataset.
Everything below is fake, hardcoded data running entirely in your browser. Nothing here touches Fishbowl, Postgres, or any live system.
Warehouse Item Lookup
Scan a barcode or search by UPC, Part Number, or Description.
Tip: try "valve", "elbow", or a PO barcode like P4521.

Stock Lookup
Type to search — results update as you type.

What changed
- Fishbowl ERP is the system of record now, synced in real time — the old Postgres buffer could silently drift from what the warehouse actually had.
- Search is instant and debounced instead of a manual Search-button round trip against the buffer database.
- Bins are grouped by site with how long ago each was last counted, instead of a flat per-row expansion list.
- Zero-quantity bins are shown explicitly ("0 EA") rather than silently dropped — try "nail" on both sides below to see the difference.
- Pricing is permission-gated per role, and language/theme/accessibility settings persist per user across devices — toggle "Sales rep" and EN/ES on the right to try it.
